Cats of Wat Pho

A wat is a Buddhist temple. You may have heard of the famous Cambodian Angkor Wat. Wat Pho is known in Bangkok for housing the reclining Buddha–one of the largest Buddhas in the world. A tranquil temple seemed like a reasonable place to find a lot of tranquil cats.

The cats below were sitting at a vendor outside the temple. We were completely charmed.

Doesn’t everyone need an ear cleaning once in a while?

The next cat was probably the friendliest feline in the wat.

Where is the cleverest home for a cat? Underneath a food vendor, of course.

  1. Ooooo…. so many gorgeous cats. I’m so glad you’re blogging still about your amazing adventures. Doesn’t the second cat look just like Indie? I told him you said hi, by the way. Looks like you guys are having a great time. Send E a big hug from us and one for you, too!

  2. Lovely cats! I am wondering is wat pronounced like cat?

Hi Jean Ann! Wat is pronounced liked ‘what’ but the “aah” sound in the middle is emphasized.
